The British Locomotive Database
Fields: Listed below is a comprehensive list of all the fields contained in each of the
forms and tables in LocoTrack.
There are six main sub-databases, Locomotives, DMU's, EMU's, Coaches, Non Passenger Carrying Stock and Wagons.
Each contain tables for Historical Data, TOPS Data and data input by the User.
The Fields for each part of the database are listed below;
Locomotives:
Loco History - Number, Class, Old numbers, Pre TOPS numbers, Old Names, General Notes
Loco TOPS - Number, Status, Livery, Pool Code, Allocation Code, Current Name, TOPS Notes
Loco Overview - Seen?, Times Seen, Location, Date, Haulage?, Photo?, Preserved?, Picture
Sightings Input - Number, Date, Time, Location, Train Details, Seen Notes, Picture.
Haulage Log – Number, Date, Start, End, Miles, Reporting Code, Route, Train Start/Dest, Start Time, End Time, Coach,
Total Distance, Haulage Notes, Picture, Sum Total Miles
Loco Photos Input – Number, Photo Code, Photo Location, Photo Date, Exposure Details, Picture
All these tables are linked in the Overview and Summary Forms, for example to show Historical and TOPS data for each sighting.
All diesel and electric Locomotives and shunters, which have run on British railways since 1948, are included.
All data can be modified or new data added . TOPS data can be updated by deleting current data and uploading with new data,
without affecting any of the users’ records.
The Picture field in this and all other Forms, provides a permanent Hyperlink to a unique photo of the particular loco stored
on your PC, for every record in the database.
Diesel Multiple Units:
DMU History - Coach Number, Set Number, Old numbers, Class, Type, General Notes
DMU TOPS – Set, Status, Livery, Pool Code, Allocation Code, Name, TOPS Notes
DMU Overview - Seen?, Date Seen, Location, Times seen, Haulage?, Photo?, Picture
DMU Sightings Input – Coach, set, Date, Time, Location, Train Details, Seen Notes, Picture
DMU Haulage Log – Coach, Set, Date, Start, End, Miles, Reporting Code, Route, Train Start / Destination, Start Time, End Time,

DMU's can be sorted in Coach or Unit order.
All current and Heritage DMU's are included.
Electric Multiple Units:
EMU History - Coach Number, Set Number, Old numbers, Class, Type, General Notes
EMU TOPS – Set, Status, Livery, Pool Code, Allocation Code, Name, TOPS Notes
EMU Overview - Seen?, Date Seen, Location, Times seen, Haulage?, Photo?, Picture

Current EMU's and a number of historical EMUs are included. Further units can be added by the user, if required.

Coach Overview - Seen, Date, Location, Name, Times seen, Haulage, Times Hauled, Total Distance, Photo, Photo code,

All Mark 1, 2, 3 and 4 coaches are included and there are separate Forms to filter for each group.
Non Passenger carrying Stock:
Non Passenger History - Number, Old number, Description, Code, TOPS Code, Type, Notes
Non Passenger TOPS – Number, Status, Livery, Pool Code, Allocation Code, Name, TOPS Notes
Non Passenger Overview - Seen, Date, Location, Times seen, Photo, Photo code, Link to Photo
All Mark 1 types are included (e.g. BG's and GUV's), including all the renumberings.
Wagons:
Wagons are split into two databases for UK Wagons and International Wagons which run in the UK .
For UK Wagons fields are;
UK wagons - Number, Old Numbers, Prefix, TOPS Code, Description, Capacity, Gross Weight, Status, Livery, Owner, Seen, Date,
Location, Times Seen, Photo, Photo Code, Link to Photo, and Notes.
Sightings Input - Number, date, Time, Location, Train Details, Sighting Notes, Photo, Photo Code, Link to Photo.
For International Wagons the fields are;
International Wagons - Number, Old Numbers, Exchange Code, TOPS Code, British/Foreign, Description, Capacity, Gross Weight,
Status, Livery, Owner, Seen, Date, Location, Times Seen, Photo, Photo Code, Link to Photo, and Notes.
Sightings Input - Number, Check Digit, Date, Time, Location, Train Details, Sighting Notes, Photo, Photo Code, Link to Photo.
Wagon data is not provided for Status, Livery and Owner fields.
On Track Plant:
Overview - Number, Old number, Prefix, Code, Description, Status Livery, Owner, Seen?, Times seen, Location, Link to Photo, Date.
Sightings Input - Number, date, Time, Location, Sighting Notes, Link to Photo, Photo Code.
Sightings Summary - Number, Date, Time, Location, Photo code, Link to Photo, Prefix, Code, Livery, Old Numbers, Status,
Description, OTP Notes
Preserved Steam Locomotives:
Overview - Number, Class, Old Numbers, Whyte Wheel Arrangement, Name, Origin, Designer, Built at, Date Built, Date Withdrawn,
Owner, Location, General Notes, Seen?, Sighting Notes, Date, Location.
